What a single indicator leaves out
Use familiar indicators with clearer questions and better context.
Compression has a cost
Every indicator summarizes selected observations. A moving average emphasizes a window and weighting rule; an oscillator compares a different set of quantities. Neither is inherently wrong, but neither captures every source of uncertainty relevant to a research question.
Context is complementary
A horizon framework does not replace all conventional indicators. It asks whether the interpretation survives across time scales and what information is absent. Source quality and data timing may matter as much as the displayed metric.
An inspectable workflow
Write down the indicator’s definition, the source, the lookback, and the knowledge cutoff. Review conflicting windows rather than selecting only the one that supports an existing view. The engine’s preserved records make this inspection possible for implemented diagnostics; they do not establish superior investment outcomes.
